History
We want our pupils to develop into historians who have an understanding of present and past conditions of all people.
Our aim is to develop pupils so that they are able to do the following :
• Have an excellent knowledge and understanding of people, events and places from different historical periods, both in Britain and the wider world.
• Understand the chronology of time and place which underpins their sense of different periods and allows them to consider change and causation.
• Think critically about history and communicating these ideas to a variety of audiences.
• Have the ability to support, evaluate and challenge their own and others opinions when using historical evidence from a range of sources.
• Formulate questions and apply a line of enquiry in order to present, analyse and reflect on what they find.
• Be curious and have a genuine interest pertaining to the past and its people.
Geography
We want our pupils to develop into active, responsible citizens, who have curiosity pertaining to the world and their local area. We allow opportunities for investigations and enquiry and develop their communication skills so that they can share their findings in various ways to a range of audiences.
Our aim is to develop pupils so that they are able to do the following :
• Have an excellent knowledge of places both in Britain and the wider world and the vocabulary with which to describe them.
• Have a comprehensive understanding of the ways in which places are interdependent and interconnected
• Think critically about society and environmental issues while bearing in mind bias and alternative opinions
• Formulate questions and apply a line of enquiry in order to present, analyse and reflect on what they find
• Have adept field work skills and other geographical skills
